Vickram Bahl is currently the Editor-At-Large of ITMN TV, an Indian TV News agency that provides news and current affairs content to leading Indian and international broadcasters. He was the Editor-In-Chief of the agency from 1998 to 2014.

 

His TV interviews with leading global political personalities include President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen of Finland, Prime Minister Ference Guyurcsany of Hungary, Prime Minister Jose Socretese of Portugal, Former Prime Minister Esko Aho of Finland, President Anibal Cavaco Silva of Portugal, President Festos Mogae of Botswana, Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt of Belgium, Former President Fidel Ramos of Philippines, Former Prime Minister Giuliano Amato of Italy, Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg of Norway, President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic, Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia, Former President Roza Otunbayeve of Kyrgyzstan, President Tarja Halonen of Finland, President Dmitry Medvedev of Russia and President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan.

 

Internationally, he has provided exclusive interviews with leading personalities and ground breaking reports that have been aired on RT (RussiaToday TV); notably the interview with Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and covered the Mumbai terror attacks. Other internationally quoted interviews include the BJP Party President, Nitin Gadkari, Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister, G.L. Peiris and Subramanian Swamy among other on VOR (Voice of Russia). Also did reports for ITN (Independent Television Network Limited) and Prime TV, Sri Lanka.

 

Among the long running programmes hosted by him include, Insight -with Vickram Bahl that ran for over 7 years on Doordarshan  India (India's national broadcaster) and Opportunities Overseas, that ran for 10 years on Doordadarshan News.

 

Other programme done include Biz Talk (interview with the person behind the business story of the week), Face to Face (interview with a top politician, bureaucrat, news maker of the week), Future Tense (a weekly programme that explored  jobs and business opportunities of the future), Budget Live (the annual budget, Live debate), Safer Tomorrow Quiz (an interschool quiz) and Global Vision (a weekly world affairs programme with global personalities as guests).

 

Also hosted Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in March 2010 on a live Internet interview and interaction with the people of India during his visit in March 2010. This is probably the first time a visiting head of government interacted over the Internet with Indians in India, thus bringing Internet TV to a new level.  

 

In 2009, he was invited as Special Guest for the launch of Prime TV – English, in Sri Lanka, with President Rajapaksa as Chief Guest. Also conducted the first Live telecast of the channel.

 

Apart from speaking regularly at various international forums he also moderates such conferences. Recent conferences include the Alliance of Civilizations, Electronic Mass Media and Terrorism, Russia India Social Dialogue.

 

Awarded Bene Merito medal from the Republic of Poland in April 2014 in recognition of deepening bilateral relations between Poland and India.
